Our Southern Cross Care Health and Wellness team in Darwin is seeking an Occupational Therapist passionate about health and wellness for older adults. 

 

 

 

About the role

 

As an Occupational Therapist you will work in a person-centred, multi-disciplinary environment that embraces innovative practice and focuses on the reablement of our clients.    

 

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to;

  • Sound level of occupational therapy assessment and treatments skills, aligned to the needs and want of our clients
  • Contributing positively to multi-disciplinary care planning for our clients
  • Demonstrated experience in person-centred practice, service continuous improvement, evidence based treatment and service delivery.
  • Case conferencing and problem-solving of complex care needs
  • Supporting clients on proactive, evidence-based reablement pathways and the capacity to identify deviation from this pathway early.
  • Willingness to mentor students and to increase your personal skill set

About you

 

 

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A bachelor or master degree in occupational therapy including current registration with AHPRA
  • Broad relevant experience with an understanding of clinical practices in an aged care setting
  • Experience in the multi-discipline environment with a focus on wellness and lifestyle pathways for older people
  • Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills that foster the co-operation and support of clients, staff, external service providers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to teach, coach and motivate clients, using models of behaviour change, scientific evidence, clinical reasoning, and accounting for sociocultural and individual factors
  • Ability to maintain concise and timely documentation
  • the capacity to apply for a provider number and an understanding of the aged care system
