About the role

 

The Laundry Attendant will provide safe and effective cleaning services that support the daily living needs, goals and preferences for residents in accordance with their care and service plan. 

 

Key Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 

  • performing routine laundry tasks including washing, drying, sorting, ironing and folding
  • reading washing and drying instructions on garments prior to commencing laundry
  • carrying out any required repairs to residents’ clothing
  • reporting promptly any maintenance requirements for furnishings and fittings
  • Supporting and mentoring new housekeeping staff
  • Reporting to Nursing staff any observed behavioural change in any resident
  • Working positively and collaboratively with other staff to provide person-centred
    safe and effective cleaning services and supports

About you

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Previous laundry experience in a commercial role
  • Adequate communication skills and a good level of English literacy including the ability to speak in a manner that older people can understand
  • Ability to read written instructions including but not limited to the safe use of cleaning chemicals 
  • Good organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision, whilst taking ownership of own workload to meet deadlines
  • A basic understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia including those who display challenging behaviours
