About the role

 

This position will work as part of a cohesive team by undertaking general portering and cleaning duties for the provision of high quality services to residents within the complex under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeper. 

You will work in a safe and inclusive manner that reflects our Southern Cross Care Better for life model to provide person centred care and support.

 

Daily duties in this role include but are not limited to;

  • coordinating delivery and collection of linen/items with contract linen service linen service 
  • transporting linen to and from laundry, organising the storage of clean items in appropriate cupboards
  • cleaning and tidying of work areas as well as emptying bins and appropriately disposing of rubbish 
  • safely moving furniture 
  • monitoring supplies including distilled water, oxygen cylinders, paper and chemical goods as well as arranging re-orders with the Care Manager 
  • working positively and collaboratively with other staff to provide person centred safe and effective cleaning services and support

About you

 

 

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience;

  • previous experience working in ward/orderly operations 
  • strong customer service focus 
  • ability to receive and carry out instructions and the ability to foresee and calculate supplies and store usage and requirements
  • sound communication skills and a good level of English literacy
  • the ability to read written instructions and speak in a manner that older people can understand
  • ability to efficiently respond to customer needs and manage expectations
  • excellent time management skills to manage your workload without direct supervision in order to complete tasks within the allocated time
  • a basic knowledge of the requirements of the Aged Care Standards as are applicable to the role
